Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre´s image will travel over Havana

Havana, Cuba. - The national pilgrimage of the image of the Virgen de la Caridad de El Cobre (Our Lady of Charity of Cobre), organized by the Conference of Catholic Bishops of Cuba, will travel over the country on the occasion of the anniversary400 of its finding in the Bay of Nipe, in 1612.

In its accomplishment they have participated, next to the church authorities, institutions and state organisms of all the municipalities and provinces of the country, and facilities have been granted for its execution.

The image that travels, known according to tradition as " The Mambisa Virgin" , had a very strong bond with the fights for independence and left from the Minor Basilica of El Cobre National Sanctuary, in Santiago of Cuba, last August 8, 2010.

During its stay in Havana, from November 6 until December 30, it will visit parishes, churches and places of social interest, public masses will be celebrated and a cultural gala will take place at the Cathedral Square, among other activities.

In its step, this symbol identified by the people with the rise of the Cuban nationality, has been welcomed with respect in the fields, towns and cities of our homeland.
