Havana, Cuba.-At the end of the 2011-2013 three year-period life expectancy at birth of the Cuban population in general reached 78.45 years, a figure that places the island among the 25 nations of the world most advantaged in this important social indicator.
Master of Science Juan Carlos Alfonso, director of the Center for Population and Development Studies (CEPDE) of the National Office of Statistics and Information (ONEI), told the Granma newspaper that the aforementioned figure represents an increase of 0.48 with respect to the 2005-2007 period, when the average was 77.97 years.
Havana, Cuba.-Cuba's national baseball team will face the Baltimore Orioles of the Major League Baseball (MLB) this year, at a date yet to be defined.
The president of the Cuban Sports Institute (INDER), Antonio Becali, told the press that there will be an exhibition game with a team of the Orioles, which will take place on the island during 2015. Becali said that in recent months other organizations of the top baseball circuit in the U.S. have expressed their interest in playing with the Cuban team.
