Havana, Cuba.- The leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, presented on Monday August 03 the book "Through all the roads of the Sierra: The Strategic Victory”, with 896 pages and a work of exceptional quality, as much by its content as by its edition and impression.
The volume tolds the confrontation of the rebellious forces to the offensive of the Army of the Batista´s dictatorship in the summer of 1958. For more than an hour, Fidel read fragments of the work in which he evaluates the final balance of the battle and the meaning of that victory of 300 guerrillas over more than 10 thousand armed soldiers.
The leader of the Revolution remembered name by name the combatants and the fallen ones in the fight, and emphasized the humanitarian spirit and the vocation for justice of Rebellious Army, that took care of and cured to its prisoners.
The truth as an elementary principle was always said
In the presentation of his book “The Strategic Victory”, Fidel announced a new volume about the final offensive of the Rebellious Army, and emphasized that the materials compiled by the Historical Affairs Office of the Council of State constitute a gift because of all what it stimulates to be recaledl.
Memories are organizing, things that happened more than 50 years ago are fresh again, Fidel commented, and remembered that in the war reports of Radio Rebelde broadcasting station truth always was an elementary principle that never failed.
The Commander-in-Chief remarked the ethical behavior of the guerrillas of that army born in the combats against the tyranny. Who trained that army of tormentors? Who provided weapons? That same one that now tortures Gerardo Hernández without any reason. Until when is it going to last?, Fidel asked itself.
The empire never left its purpose of subduing Cuba
In the presentation of its book "Thor: The Strategic Victory”, Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz remembered the cruelty without limits of the dictatorship´s forces, in an advance of the next book, in which he tells an tactical reverse suffered during the counter-offensive, when an rebellious column fell in an ambush and was massacreed without mercy.
Fidel also made an analysis that connects the half a century ago history with the present one in the permanent and never left imperial intention of subduing the Cuban nation, without repairing in methods no matter how repugnant they can be.
In the presentation of the book, its chief editor, Katiuska Blanco, and Alberto Alvariño, deputy chief of the Ideological Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, took the floor.
