Taichung, China.- The manager of the Cuban team, Miguel Borroto, described as positive the preparation stage and the six games played in two cities of Chinese Taipei towards the Premier 12 baseball event, in spite of today’s 6-12 defeat facing Venezuela.

Borroto, who is making his debut leading the main team of the island, highlighted the importance of this calendar, which had as objective to grease-up the machinery to face the debut in the world appointment against Canada, next November 6, at the Gocheok Sky Dome stadium in Seoul, South Korea.

We have very positive feelings and we’re happy with what we appreciate, so we just have to go out and fight inning for inning, game by game,’ the coach told the publication Jit.

On the match against Venezuela, the mentor said that ‘we worked in a planned way’ and ‘it was positive that the team was able to respond when it was below 0-11, up to scoring six times.

He said he was pleased ‘with the fighting spirit shown during this stage, and I confirmed (to the baseball players) confidence and security that we are able to reach (South) Korea strengthened positively after these days of practice, in search of the result we all want.

Cuba closed the program of friendly clashes with a balance of three victories, one draw and two defeats, and this November 4 will travel to South Korea, home of section C of the second edition of the Premier.

Cuba will start on November 6 against Canada, the following day will play against Australia and will close the 8th against the host, Korea, while Venezuela will remain in this city to compete against Japan, Puerto Rico and the local Chinese Taipei, as part of segment B, in the Intercontinental Taichung diamond.

The event lifted its curtains this Saturday with the first clashes of the A key and the successes of the United States and Mexico over the Netherlands and Dominican Republic, respectively, at the Charros de Jalisco stadium in the Mexican city of Zapopan.

According to the competition system, the best two sets of each lot will advance to the Super Round, scheduled to be organized in Japan, from 11 to 16 November, at the Tokyo Dome, while the final will be on Sunday 17, at the ZOZO Marine Stadium in the city of Chiba.
