Havana, Cuba.- Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh started an official visit to Cuba on Monday.

After arriving in Havana’s Jose Marti International Airport on Sunday night, the Vietnamese visitor will meet with Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez and People’s Power National Assembly Speaker (Parliament) Esteban Lazo, among other events on his working agenda.

Relations between Cuba and Vietnam have improved in the economic and commercial fields, investment and cooperation, and the two countries share experiences on the construction of socialism on the basis of each nation’s specific situations.

Vietnam strongly supports Cuba’s struggle for the immediate and unconditional lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United State for more than half a century.

Cuba grants great importance to the mechanism of political consultations between Foreign Ministries, whose latest session took place in Hanoi in September 2017.

In 2020, Cuba and Vietnam will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations.
