Santiago de Cuba, Cuba.- Santiago de Cuba”s People”s Power Municipal Assembly on Tuesday recognized as the 29th Pastors for Peace Caravan as Distinguished Guests, as an aknowledgement for its sustained struggle in solidarity with Cuba and against the blockade.

On the fourth day of the group’s stay in Santiago de Cuba, the US activists met with local authorities and learned about the characteristics of the Cuban electoral system, in light of substantial transformations resulting from popular consultations on the constitutional reform.

During the meeting, that recognition was given to the youngest member of that fraternal crusade, the eight-year-old Maria Amanda Barios, and the oldest one, the 86-year-old Jack Arthur Wedman.

On Tuesday, the caravan members were briefed about the operations by the National Center for Seismological Research (Cenais), by its director, Dr. Bladimir Moreno, who spoke about the peculiarities of telluric movements in Cuba.

The scientist referred to the missions of that institution since it was established in 1992 and in particular, the national network of seismological stations that cover almost the entire national territory and maintain a systematic monitoring of these phenomena to provide timely information to authorities and the population.

Moreno referred to the international collaboration supported by the Cenais and especially with US experts, who provide knowledge in an advantageous interaction from geographical areas of common interest, led primarily by the US Geological Service.
