Havana, Cuba.- The Panamanian aviation company Copa Airlines was chosen as the most punctual airline in the world and, for the sixth consecutive year, as the most punctual airline in Latin America.

Such recognitions were granted by the aeronautical analysis companies OAG (Official Airline Guide, of London) and FlightStats, respectively, after evaluating the punctuality performance of the most important airlines globally during the year 2018, Copa Airlines reported on its site Web.

After analyzing 57 million flight records made by 250 airlines, between January 1 and December 31, 2018, Copa Airlines recorded the highest rate of punctuality in the industry globally, with 89.79 percent.

In this way, it became the first Latin American airline in history to receive this important recognition, according to the OAG.

FlightStats also highlighted the timeliness of Copa Airlines, recognizing it as ‘The most punctual airline in Latin America’ for the sixth consecutive year, with the best punctuality indicator in the world.

This result arises from the monitoring of some 120 thousand flights per day, operated and served by hundreds of airlines and airports. The selection was based on the analysis of flight status and arrival data from more than 600 world sources, including civil aviation authorities, airports and third parties, said the release.

We are very proud to receive this important recognition, which is the result of the work, dedication and commitment of the entire Copa Airlines team, which demonstrates every day that in Panama and Latin America we can be the best in the world, said Pedro Heilbron, CEO of Copa Airlines.

‘I also want to highlight the key work for our operation of the Civil Aviation Authority, such as those performed daily by the control tower and the Air Control Center, and the Tocumen International Airport, entities that have provided the necessary conditions to achieve the best level of punctuality in the industry, ‘he said.

In his opinion, these acknowledgments reaffirm that punctuality is the hallmark of Copa Airlines par excellence, an aspect that has been valued for many years both by international organizations and by passengers.

We are committed to offering the highest levels of punctuality in the world and to meet the needs of our passengers, who rely on Copa Airlines on a daily basis to reach their destinations on time, Heilbron added.

This Latin American airline currently operates an average of 350 daily flights through the so-called Hub of the Americas, the hub with the most international flights in the region, located at the Tocumen International Airport in Panama City.

From there, it connects 80 cities in 32 countries in North, Central and South America and the Caribbean.
