Havana, Cuba.- The 11th Cuban Congress on Anesthesiology, Revival and Pain entitled “Cubaestesia 2017” to be held in Havana with discussions on the implication of anesthesia techniques in senior citizens, obese and critical patients when they require surgery with certain complications.

The forum, to be held at the Hotel Nacional from October 18th to the 21st will demonstrate the experiences in the field of anesthesiology, pre surgery and the treatment of pain with the objective of discussing the advances and development of the sector, said the organizing committee.

The event will serve as a scenario to exchange among colleagues from different nations and will expose the latest advances of the sector in pediatrics.

Other issues will center on Advances in Cardiopulmonary and Cerebral Revival; Cardiothoracic Anesthesia and Revival in critical maternal; Trauma and its particularities.

Anesthesia in high-risk patients is also included in the scientific program, Advances in the study and treatment of pain; neuro-anesthesia; hemo-derivative in anesthesia and ventilation.

The academic formation in anesthesiology; pharmacology applied in Anesthesia, among others are also issues to be debated by the Cuban and foreign participants.

The first activity of its type held in Cuba and Latin America was held on October 11th of 1847 by Dr. Vicente Antonio de Castro, in the San Juan de Dios Hospital in Havana, said Professor Humberto Sainz Cabrera, President of the Cuban Society of Anesthesiology and Revival and the organizing committee.

Prestigious professors from Mexico, Dominican Republic, Panama, Argentina and Venezuela will demonstrate the technique of America 2017 TIVA intravenous general anesthesia used in developed nations with good results.

Professor Sainz Cabrera with over half a century exercising in his profession will offer a conference on the history of the academic formation of anesthesiology in Cuba.
