HAVANA, Cuba.- The President of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel, congratulated the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) this Monday, on the anniversary of their founding.

On his Twitter account, the Head of State wrote: On December 2, 1956, the Granma arrived, its 82 members entered and the Rebel Army was born, embryo of the Revolutionary Armed Forces. A hug to our worthy troops and their chiefs, officers and soldiers, invincible shield of the Fatherland.

From Mexico, those young people would continue in the historic Sierra Maestra to the armed insurrection against the tyranny of Fulgencio Batista.

In honor of this action, the Revolutionary Armed Forces were born, a basic military institution of the Cuban State.
