Jose Ramon Fernandez receives the 2017 National Prize for Pedagogy.

HAVANA, Cuba.-The Cuban Pedagogues Association awarded Jose Ramon Fernandez Alvarez and Asela de los Santos Tamayo, the 2017 National Prize for Pedagogy, in a ceremony held in the main lecture hall of the University of Havana.

The Cuban President’s adviser, on his behalf and that of De los Santos, said that all the Cuban educational work was promoted by Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro through his interventions, participation, advice and personal help to the teachers.

Jose Ramon Fernandez highlighted that as long as he live, he will fight for the revolution and that the great educational work is the great monument of undefeated leader Fidel Castro Ruz to the nation.

In the praise to Asela de los Santos, they pointed out that for her education is her life, she always thought as a teacher and she trusted youth to continue the revolutionary process.

They Honor Consecration to Teaching and Love to the Country

The work of a whole life and having made great contributions to theoretical and practical teaching are some of the reasons why the Cuban Pedagogues Association granted its greatest recognition to Jose Ramon Fernandez Alvarez and Asela de los Santos Tamayo.

In their long trajectory, both of them have been trainers of exceptional educators, architects of the Cuban teaching and the teacher´s mission.

The Cuban Pedagogues Association granted its highest distinction to both revolutionaries for their work in increasing education´s quality, by putting at the center of their attention the training, exemplary and social prestige of teachers.

Today the 2017 Pedagogy award was also awarded to Dr. Yanoy Morejon Mesa, from the Agriculture University of Havana for his teacher training.
