hotel-nacional-de-cubaHavana, cuba.-The 26th edition of the World Travel Awards has placed Cuba”s Hotel Nacional as the best hotel on the island, it was officially reported today.

The distinction adds to the long list of the Hotel’s attractions.

Opened on December 30th, 1930, Hotel Nacional operated by Gran Caribe, was named in the latest version of the World Travel Awards, considered the Oscar of the tourism industry. Hotels such as Florida, Iberostar Parque Central, Melia Cohiba and Meliá Cayo Coco were also nominated.

The World Travel Awards are conferred by a jury of experts, who recognize excellence in a wide range of categories, according to region.

In the resorts/spa caregory, the Paradisus Princesa del Mar in Varadero and the Paradisus Rio de Oro in Holguin also won awards. In the Caribbean area, Jamaica was selected as the best destination.
