CAMAGUEY, Cuba. – About four thousand meters of beach fronts were rehabilitated in Camaguey between 2010 and 2017 as part of a monitoring in the territory since last year to preserve this valuable environmental resource.

Santa Lucia Resort has been benefited with several actions included in the national Program of Beach Maintenance, which seeks to rescue the vitality of these environments as important for their richness of flora and fauna.

Rebeca Gonzalez, specialist of the Center for Environmental Research of Camaguey, explained those sectors with a greater affectation for human action and coastal erosion have been intervened.

The researcher added that the hotel sectors bear an impact throughout the year due to the tourist activity, so the most significant actions for rehabilitation were concentrated there.
