Havana, Cuba.- The new Cuban Constitution fosters the citizens” duties and rights and condemns all kind of discrimination, President Miguel Diaz-Canel posted on Twitter on Tuesday.

When there are only five days left to ratify the constitutional referendum approved in December by the National Assembly, the president stated that the letter ratifies the rights of children and adolescents, in addition to guaranteeing the due respect to people.

That’s why I vote ‘Yes’, stated Diaz-Canel, who has has about 96,000 followers on Twitter since his first message, issued on October 10, 2018.

More than eight million Cubans are convened to vote on February 24 to pronounce on the new Constitution of the Republic, which will replace the one in force since 1976.

According to experts, this is a revolutionary Constitution in terms of guarantees and individual rights, reflecting respect for life, physical and moral integrity, freedom, justice, peace, security, education, culture, recreation, sports, comprehensive development and non-discrimination.

The Constitution to be be submitted to referendum on Sunday states that human beings cannot be subjected to enforced disappearance, torture or cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment.
