Russian locomotives.

HAVANA, Cuba. – The Union of Railways of Cuba received eight Russian-made locomotives through the Port of Havana; this is the second batch of about 65 planned up to 2021.

Each of the machines, delivered by Sinara manufacturer, has a cost of one million euros and all of them will assume transport operations in strategic sectors of economy.

Rolando Navarro, Vice-director of the Union of Cuban Railways, explained the locomotives will go to the sugar system, the transport of fuels and general cargo, and added they have planned a group of important investments including passenger wagons, railroads and communications systems for railway operations.

Four of the eight Russian machines will be based in Villa Clara province, and the rest in Holguin.
