HAVANA, Cuba.- The Cuban President, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, recalled this Tuesday the emergence 33 years ago of the New Latin American Cinema Foundation (FNCL).

On December 4, 1985 the New Latin American Cinema Foundation was born, an emancipatory project for cinematography in our region, promoted by Fidel (Castro) and El Gabo (Gabriel Garcia Marquez). Congratulations to our filmmakers. It was possible, it is possible, it will be possible, the President wrote on his Twitter account.

The FNCL is a non-profit cultural entity, created with the purpose of contributing to the development and integration of Latin American cinema and achieving a common audiovisual universe, in addition to cooperating with the rescue and strengthening of the cultural identity of Latin America and the Caribbean.
