Diaz-Canel Checks Recovery in Batabano.

BATABANO, Cuba.- Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel toured the municipality of Batabano, in the western province of Mayabeque, one of those affected by Hurricane Michael.

Accompanied by the first Vice-President of the island, Salvador Valdes Mesa, and local authorities, the head of State headed a meeting to follow up on the recovery measures of the natural phenomenon, which struck Western areas with heavy rains on Monday and Tuesday.

Diaz-Canel spoke with inhabitants of Batabano, among them fishermen working in the coastal municipality, and was interested in the living conditions of the population. He also visited the port terminal dedicated to the transportation of passengers and merchandise.

Previously the President toured areas of Pinar del Rio, the most damaged province by the winds and rains of the hurricane, and where electricians from Sancti Spiritus province work on the recovery of circuits.
