Holguin, Cuba.- Cuban economic potential is focused on boosting exports of goods and services. The province of Holguin is a leader today because of its fertile land and its noteworthy opportunities of great economic relevance.

In recent statements, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Antonio Luis Carricarte highlighted the territory´s breakthrough in exports at recognizing that Holguin reached the first position regarding exporting goods, specially- nickel.

According to data from the territorial delegation of the Chamber of Commerce, Holguin sells abroad over 30 items from different activities of the Ministries of Industry, Food, Energy and Mines and Agriculture, as well as the Business Group AZ.

Cuban President, Miguel Diaz-Canel, in his recent visit to Holguin, underscored the potential in that sector providing the examples of Combinadas Cañeras LX Aniversario de la Revolucion de Octubre Company and the Fabrica de Equipos e Implementos 26 de julio ( the Agricultural Equipment and Implement Factory July 26 in English).

Some of the most outstanding lines, of those two main Holguin industries, are: spare parts, agricultural implements and trailers, cast lids and frames, aggregates and metallic structures.

Ferrous and total scrap are among the consolidated products of the province; bronze, copper, aluminum, charcoal, coffee, sugar and the different variants for obtaining nickel.

Currently, products such as: shark fin, sea cucumber, and angula (eel´s larva) are exported to the Asian market, whose kilogram is valued at around 1,000 dollars. And we work to achieve a greater variety of exports.

An intention that will bring about the inclusion of new products, recover those that had stopped being exported, and guarantee the highest standards of quality of goods and services allocated for international markets.
