Montevideo, Uruguay.- The Central Committee of the Uruguay Communist Party (PCU) condemned measures of aggression and harassment enacted today by the United States against Venezuela and Cuba.

In a political resolution, the top organ of leftwing forces denounced that the center of the counter offensive of Washington in Latin America is in the recent tour of countries of the region by U.S. State Secretary, Rex Tillerson, and in the presence of the head of the South Command in Colombia, Kurt Tidd.

It also adds the permanent provocations of the Organization of American States (OAS) and his Secretary General, Luis Almagro, and the self-named Group of Lima against the Bolivarian Republic and the Caribbean nation.

The Uruguayan communists adopted the resolution by the PCU Central Committee in their first meeting of the year.

The PCU said the electoral fraud and the repression in Honduras, and the non-compliance by the Colombian State of the peace accords and the increase of political violence against the left and the increase of political violence against the left and the social organizations in this last country ‘have worsened’ over the last months.
