Paris, France.- Unesco has launched the call for the Jose Marti International Prize, which will be delivered in January 2019 in Havana during the IV International Conference ”For the Balance of the World,” diplomatic sources reported.

The text called the member states to present the nominations for the award, with a deadline of delivery next October 26.

The objective of the prize is to promote and reward a particularly worthy activity, in accordance with the ideology and spirit of Jose Marti, as well as with the vocation of sovereignty and the liberating struggle.

Likewise, the contribution in any place of the world to the unity and integration of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean and to the preservation of his identity, cultural traditions and historical values recognized.

According to the call, the prize can be awarded to a person, a group of people, institutions and other entities or non-governmental organizations.

The Jose Marti International Prize of UNESCO was instituted by the Executive Council at the initiative of the Government of Cuba, in November 1994.

In creating the award, the members of the Executive Council recognized the universality and transcendence of the ideals of the Cuban National Hero.

The award ceremony will take place at the IV International Conference ‘For the Balance of the World’, scheduled from January 28 to 31, 2019.
