U.S. Citizenship Service announces closure in Cuba.

HAVANA, Cuba.- The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service announced the permanent closure of its local office in Cuba, whose work will be carried out in the Mexican capital.

According to a statement released by that entity, the cessation of that center began this Monday, and the office in Mexico City will assume jurisdiction over immigration matters to the United States previously served in Havana.

Likewise, the U.S. Department of State in the Caribbean capital will take care of certain services provided previously by the service, the statement added.

The text recalled that since the fall of 2017, almost all of the visa services of the U.S. Embassy in Havana were suspended, following the decision of Donald Trump’s administration to considerably reduce the staff on that legation.
