Flags of the two Koreas.

SEOUL, South Korea.- South Korea confirmed there are talks with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, to launch a joint inspection this week on the state of the border railway, after receiving exemptions to modernize it.

Baik Tae-Hyun, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told reporters that the study will take place in twenty days, and once completed, both states will begin negotiations on some procedures with the United Nations Command.

The inspection will be carried out after Seoul received a waiver of sanctions from the UN Security Council and the United States on Saturday, to send to the north the materials required in that project.

With that initiative, the two Koreas seek to link and renew the railways at the common border. Seoul and Pyongyang analyzed this issue and also the interconnection by road and air.
