CARACAS, Venezuela.- The President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, congratulated the people and authorities of Cuba on the 58th anniversary of the proclamation of the socialist character of the Revolution on the island.

Through Twitter, Maduro greeted the First secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, Raul Castro and the President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Diaz-Canel.

58 years after the declaration of the socialist character of the Cuban Revolution, we salute its entire heroic people, Raul Castro and our brother Diaz-Canel, who have kept alive the revolutionary flame illuminating the hope of the free peoples of America, the Venezuelan President wrote.

Fidel Castro, the highest leader of the Cuban Revolution, declared its Socialist character during the funeral honors of the victims of a bombing of Cuba.
