Earthquake in Peru.

LIMA, Peru.- The National Emergency Operations Center of Peru reported that more than 700 families were affected by the earthquake of magnitude 6.8 on the Richter scale, registered this Sunday in the south of that nation, with a balance of one dead and 65 injured.

According to the Geophysical Institute of Peru, the earthquake was registered about 56 kilometers south of Lomas, and at a depth of 48 kilometers.

The Institute pointed out that the tremor was felt in several locations on the Peruvian coastline, and many adobe walls and houses gave in, adding that there were power outages in several cities.

The President of the Peruvian Council of Ministers, Mercedes Araoz, reported in a press conference that they are studying to declare in emergency the most affected areas to start the reconstruction of houses and roads.
