South African women suffer from economic inequalities, poverty, unemployment and intolerance.

PRETORIA, South Africa.- Cyril Ramaphosa, the President of South Africa, called to correct the serious historical injustice suffered by women in that country, expressed in economic inequalities, patriarchal attitudes, poverty, social pressures, unemployment, and intolerance.

These problems join to the lack of adequate medical care and other services conspiring against women’s perspectives and their ability to face these challenges, the President said to the National Parliament.

Ramaphosa called on the members of all parties to confront the marginalization, subjugation, social and economic factors that prevent women from developing and completing their studies.

He also addressed violence against women and children, and said the Government adopted a comprehensive action program to eliminate all forms of abuse.
