Havana, Cuba.- Solidarity groups with Cuba and countries of Latin America and the Caribbean sent solidarity messages to Cuba after the tornado which shook Havana where recovery efforts are being carried out Tuesday.

Ecuador’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility, on behalf of the people and the National Government, expresses its sorrow to the people and the Government of the Republic of Cuba for the unfortunate loss of human life, hundreds of injuries and material damage caused by the tornado, according to an Official Statement.

For its part, El Salvador’s Permanent Table for Risk Management expressed its confidence that the unity of the Cuban people and the solidarity of friendly countries will allow the country to rise soon from this sudden and powerful blow of nature.

The Nicaraguan government sent a message signed by President Daniel Ortega and Vice President Rosario Murillo, in whose text it transmits to Cuba ‘all our affection in this day of difficulties and losses’.

The members of the Bolivarian Circle Yamileth Lopez, from Costa Rica, also transmitted their respect and affection to the Cuban people in Havana.

In a brief statement, the Panamanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its solidarity with the families of the fatal victims, ‘and trusts that the renewed hope shared with the Cuban pilgrims who participated in World Youth Day 2019 will contribute to overcoming this tragedy, the result of the onslaught of nature.

The number of deaths as a result of the strong tornado that struck Havana climbed to four, while the number of wounded reached 195.

Regla, Guanabacoa, Diez de Octubre and San Miguel del Padron were the most damaged municipalities, according to official sources.
