AEC-1Havana, cuba.-The 22nd Meeting of the Caribbean Council of Ministers opens here this Friday to look into ways to strengthen the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) and review key regional issues.

Participants will also ratify commitments of the Declaration and Plan of Action of Havana agreed upon at the 7th ACS Summit held in June 2016, a press release of the Cuban Foreign Relations Ministry underlines.

On Thursday, experts prepared the documents that will come Friday under the analysis of the Ministers.

The officials highlighted at the preparatory gathering Cuba’s work as pro-tem president of the regional bloc, as well as its initiative to hold the 1st Cooperation Conference held Wednesday.

Experts also discussed in Havana ways to cope with the risk of natural disasters and climate change in the Caribbean.

This Friday, Caribbean ministers will review nominations for their Council’s presidency during the 2017-2018 period, and who will head the Specials Committees, the Council of the Special Fund and the Commission of the Caribbean Sea.
