BUENOS AIRES, Argentina. – Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, former Argentine president and leader of National Unity, political force representing her aspiration for a position of Senator, recognized last Sunday night the defeat of her group in the legislative elections where they aspired to control the Senate.

It’s not enough to beat our opponents. We are serious and responsible, Cristina pointed out recognizing officialism´s victory. In Buenos Aires, Esteban Bullrich won the legislatures representing Cambiemos Party, right-wing political organization that led Mauricio Macri to the Presidency.

When addressing to her supporters, the former Argentine president indicated the strategy from the opposition to Macri’s policies is to create a unit-based front and stop the neo-liberal onslaught that seeks to impose an economic and social policy affecting large majorities.

The National Unit Party, which took Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner as a candidate for the Senate in Buenos Aires, reached 36.26 percent of vote, compared to 42.15 percent that supported the proposal of Macri´s ruling party.
