Dilma Rousseff denounced the isolation in which Lula da Silva is maintained.

CURITIBA, Brazil. – A Brazilian judge rejected this Monday the applications submitted to visit former President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who remains in detention at the headquarters of the Federal Police of Curitiba.

Among the denied requests there is the one introduced by former president-elect Dilma Rousseff, who called the refusal an attempt to isolate the Brazilian leader and to prevent his voice from reaching those supporting him and demanding his freedom.

“They isolate Lula because they fear the voice of his innocence. They fear that Lula talk with the Brazilian people,” Dilma Rousseff told reporters in the face of the refusal to visit the most popular Brazilian politician in the face of the elections, where all the polls show him as a favorite.

Lula da Silva is serving a sentence of twelve years and one month imposed by Judge Sergio Moro, who accuses him of corruption without evidence and violating the judicial proceedings.
