Havana, Cuba.- Public Health Minister Roberto Morales held bilateral meetings with counterparts from several countries to strengthen relations and promote medical cooperation projects, it was reported today.

The meetings allow to review the agreements emerged during the International Cuba-Health Convention 2018, as well as the projects generated at the Health for All Trade Fair, joint events held in the country in April, he said.

In the context of the 71st World Health Assembly, held in Geneva, Switzerland, Morales, who is also Vice President of the Cuban Council of State, said that an Action Plan was signed with China and a technical team was created for its implementation as soon as possible, giving continuity to a memorandum of understanding.

Morales also met with Sicily Kariuki, cabinet secretary of the Health Ministry of the Republic of Kenya.

She said that the agreements adopted during the Cuba-Health 2018 event are materialized in her country, and the conditions are now created to receive the first 100 Cuban doctors in June.

The cabinet secretary recognized as another step forward that about 50 students were chosen to study at the Latin American School of Medicine in Havana.

The 71st World Health Assembly, running until May 26, aims to accelerate projects that will make it possible to respond to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, through monitoring the issue of univeral health coverage.
