Santiago de Cuba, Cuba.-The prototype of an exoskeleton of robotic arm and a multipurpose model are the two latest releases targeted by technicians and workers of the Center of Medical Biophysics (CBM), opened here by Fidel Castro.

Doctor Juan Garcia, director of CBM, said that the robotic arm is on clinical trial in five patients of the provincial hospital Juan Bruno Zayas, while the model will be used in physical rehabilitation, as well as the flat stretcher for physiotherapy.

Garcia said that one of the CBM targets is the contribution to management, process and decision on biomedical data, along with the development of the magnetic resonance imaging, software for imaging and ways for diagnosing in angiology.

Garcia highlighted the researches on sickle-cell anemia, particularly the evolution of relaxing times for healthy people and those affected by the disease, the trials of drugs and studies on the autonomous nervous system.

CBM, which was founded 24 years ago, is included in the project VLIR, between the University of Oriente and the University of Belgium, and is focused on boosting training of its specialists seeking to win new achievements for the Cuban services of health.
