Havana, Cuba.- The President of the Cuban Federation of University Students (FEU), Raul Alejandro Palmero, on Tuesday announced that the Cuban youth, by their own will, will join the recovery works of the affected areas in Havana after the passage of the tornado.

‘All our solidarity and encouragement for the families of the victims, the injured and those who lost their goods,’ the student leader said in front of the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC) Raul Castro, President Miguel Diaz-Canel and more than 30,000 young people at the stairs of the University of Havana, prior to the beginning of the parade of torches.

Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, second secretary of the Central Committee of the PCC, and other Cuban authorities also participated in the traditional walk taking place in Cuba to pay tribute to National Hero Jose Marti

Palmero also ratified the new generations’ commitment with the continuity of the Cuban Revolution that is celebrating its 60th anniversary, he noted.

He highlighted Cuba’s achievements reached in six decades of socialist government, as well as its resistance to the aggressions and the U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade.

The student leader reiterated the Cuban university students’ support to Venezuela and its president, Nicolas Maduro, before the attempted coup d’Etat in that South American country.

He finally called for popular participation in the February 24 referendum to ratify the new Constitution of the Republic.
