Saint John, Antigua y Barbuda.-Gaston Browne, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barrbuda, was grateful to Cuba for its strong support to the educative agenda of this eastern Caribbean nation.

Browne said the program of annual scholarships programme for young Antiguan to study at Cuban educational institutions makes significant impact on the lives of the citizens of this Caribbean country.

The Head of Government sent a thanking message on the occasion of a graduation ceremony, held in the Office of the Prime Minister for four students from Antigua and Barbuda who attended free studies of medicine in Cuba.

The graduates were benefited by the scholarship program offered by the government of Havana to Caribbean nations, as part of the relations of cooperation with the Caribbean Community (Caricom).

Antiguan Foreign Minister Charles Fernandez, highlighted the growing exchanges between the two countries in various fields such as medicine, the repair of roads and the energy sector, among others, reported the Cuban Embassy here.

At the same time, Cuban Ambassador Gustavo Veliz Olivares stated that the relations with the Caribbean constitute a priority in the foreign policy of Cuba, and ratified the disposal for raising the levels of cooperation despite the limitations associated with the blockade of the United States.

Both diplomats agreed on the importance of the next Summit Cuba-Caricom, planned for the coming month of December in Antigua and Barbuda.
