ST. PETERSBURG, Russia. – The President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel, spoke today with the top leader of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg, Viacheslav Makarov, who reiterated his country’s rejection of the American blockade against the island.

For us, Cuba will always be the Island of Freedom, Makarov declared and highlighted the affection existing in the Russian population for the Cuban people. He spoke out for himself by emphasizing to bequeath to the younger generations that mutual love between the two peoples.

For his part, the Cuban President referred to America’s new aggressive actions, now aimed at preventing the arrival of fuel in Cuba, by sanctioning shipping and foreign insurance companies.

At the conclusion of his visit to the headquarters of the Parliament of St. Petersburg, where 50 deputies meet, Diaz-Canel wrote down his impressions in the visitor’s book.
