Havana, Cuba.- A selection of the most outstanding films in the history of Romanian cinema will be screened as of Wednesday in this capital, as part of the 5th Romanian Film Week, organizers said.

The Acapulco Theater will host the exhibition, which includes seven films, two of which have been awarded at festivals, and a documentary, according to the official program of the event.

Speaking at a press conference, Romanian Ambassador to Cuba Gentiana Serbu said that the event will be dedicated to the centenary of the Great Romanian Union, a historic landmark that celebrates the incorporation of Transylvania as part of current Romania in 1918.

A fragment of the films The War of Independence and The Forest of the Hanged will open the film week-long exhibition, which will also show Luxury Hotel (1992), Sequences (1982), The Moromete family (1987) and The Rest Is Silence (2008).

The Romanian Film Week is organized by the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC), the Romanian Embassy in Cuba, the Romanian Cultural Institute and the Cuban Ministry of Culture.
