Havana, Cuba.- Havana will be the guest of honor at the 46th International Book Fair of Buenos Aires (Filba), Argentina, in 2020, announced the director of the Cuban Chamber of Books, Sonia Almaguer.

The event will be held between late April and early May next year at the Rural Fairgrounds, in Palermo, as usual.

Cuba will not only present the classics of Jose Marti, Severo Sarduy, Virgilio Piñera, Nicolas Guillen and Alejo Carpentier, but will also foster the work of new writers such as Leonardo Padura and Pedro Juan Gutierrez, Alamguer stated.

On the occasion of its five centuries of foundation, the guest city will showcase a variety of products from its crafts, music, cinema and literature, related to its history, everyday life and autochthonous cultural traits.

Fibal is considered the second most important fair in Latin America, both for its magnitude and for its permanence for so many decades. It has a high standard from the commercial and professional point of view, as well as a very varied literary program.

The event hosted by the Book Foundation and the Argentine Chamber of Books will carry out activities aimed at literature professionals such as marketers, booksellers, translators and literary agents.
