Havana, Cuba.- The Cuban company Acosta Dance is presenting on Saturday at the Festival Theater in the city of St. Pölten, Austria, a performance with which it begins a tour in Europe. During the tour, which will last until October 5, the group directed by the dancer Carlos Acosta proposes a varied program with recognized pieces from his repertoire.

Among the works they will present are De punta a cabo (‘From Top to End’), a version of the original by choreographer Alexis Fernandez (Maca) and the duet Fauno and Mermaid, created by Belgian Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui.

The programme also includes Rooster by Christopher Bruce, Impronta by Maria Rovira, Memoria (‘Memory’) by Miguel Altunaga and, as a colophon, Carmen, based on Acosta’s own version of the well-known novel by Prosper Mérimée, with music by George Bizet.

After the stop in Austria, Acosta and his company will perform in Greece, and then in the Royal Albert Hall in the city of London, where they will celebrate 30 years in the dance of the renowned Cuban artist.

Carlos Acosta is one of the most recognized contemporary dancers in the world. Throughout his career he has been a leading figure in companies such as the Royal Ballet of London, the National Ballet of Cuba and those of Houston, Bolshoi Theatre, Paris Opera and American Ballet.

In 2016 he founded Acosta Dance, a group which has worked with renowned choreographers from all over the world and has performed on stages of different latitudes.
