Cuban families affected by U.S. actions

Manuel Marrero denounces U.S. decision to suspend charter flights to Cuba, except to Havana.

HAVANA, Cuba.- The Cuban Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero, noted that the decision of the United States to suspend charter flights to the island from this Tuesday, except to Havana, is a direct sanction against our compatriots.

On his Twitter account, Marrero called Washington’s decision a cowardly act that isolates again Cuban families. “How can they talk about human rights and freedoms?,” he asked.

Granma newspaper warns that the implementation of this measure aims to win votes of the most reactionary sectors of Cuban emigration in the United States in the presidential elections in November.

However, this time reactions against punishments are swift in that country, where Cuban residents, since the end of last year were affected by the suspension of regular direct flights to the interior of Cuba.
