HAVANA, Cuba.- The Sixteenth Cuban Civil Society Organizations Forum against Blockaded closed in Havana with a strong condemnation of the U.S. government’s hostile policy towards Cuba.

Fermin Quinones, president of the Cuban Association of the United Nations, read the final declaration, which reaffirms that the economic, commercial and financial blockade constitutes the main limit to the development of the country, and negatively impacts civil society.

The text highlights the lawsuit against the US government for the maintenance of the policy that has caused considerable human and economic damage to the Cuban people.

It also expresses the rejection of the implementation of the Helms-Burton Act, a legal spawn of political restraint that perpetuates the climate of hostility between Cuba and the United States, denying the Caribbean nation the right to independence and self-determination.
