Shanghai, China.- The Havanatur agency informed that it will open its first office in Shanghai with an offer that will combine products, packages and all kinds of activities to attract Chinese holidaymakers to Cuba.

Havanatur President Evelyn Guilarte told Prensa Latina that the decision to open an office in this municipality, the country’s financial center, is based on the market potential, as it is the world’s major tourist-sending market.

‘We will have opportunities to promote knowledge of the destination right here. We will be ready with all packages, prices and opportunities that can be offered, so that travellers do not have to depend on a company in Cuba (?) so we will really be providing information rapidly and immediately as this market is accustomed to,’ she added.

The executive noted that Havanatur has contracted 100% of all tourist services in Cuba, both in the state and non-state sectors, so it can present here a portfolio that would include transport, tickets, hotels and extrahotel activities in Cuba.

‘We are also working hard on multi-destination travel, which has great potential. We already have agreements and contracts with tour operators and agencies in several Caribbean countries that would allow clients to enjoy more than one destination that is attractive to them,’ she pointed out.

Guilarte added that the preliminary idea is to be present in Shanghai, but the agency could later branch out to other Chinese provinces.

Cuba’s goal is to double the number of Chinese travelers to the island in two or three years, and efforts are being made to promote the country’s attractions and strengths in such sectors as nature tourism, culture, health and nautical sports, among other options.
