Havana, Cuba.- Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel will attend the main event on July 26, the Day of National Rebelliousness, which will take place on Friday in the eastern province of Granma.

On a message on Twitter on Thursday, Diaz-Canel wrote that he will travel to Bayamo, in Granma, to celebrate, along with local people, the anniversary, which is an important date known as the Day of National Rebelliousness.

On my way to Bayamo to join the Granma people at a square of the homeland against the Helms-Burton Act, he wrote on his account @DiazCanelB.

On July 26, 1953, a group of Cuban revolutionaries attacked the eastern garrisons in Santiago de Cuba (Guillermon Moncada) and Bayamo (Carlos Manuel de Cespedes), an action that marked the beginning of the liberation war that ended on January 1, 1959, with the triumph of the Revolution.
