Cuban President Receives Russian Prime Minister

HAVANA, Cuba.- The President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, received on Thursday at the Palace of the Revolution His Excelency Dimitri Medvedev, Prime Minister of Russia, who arrived in Cuba this morning.

Prior to the welcome ceremony and official conversations, the distinguished visitor honored Jose Marti with the placement of a floral tribute, at which point he was accompanied by Vice-Chancellor Ana Teresita Gonzalez.

During his stay in Havana, the Russian Prime Minister will receive the title honorary doctor in Political Science from the University of Havana, and will carry out other activities.

According to the agenda released by the Russian cabinet on its website, both nations are expected to sign intergovernmental and inter-agency agreements as well as trade contracts.
