Cubans have increased their travels abroad.

HAVANA, Cuba. – Cubans residing in Cuba did almost three million trips abroad for personal reasons, since the entry into force of the updating of immigration legislation in January 2013.

According to official data, from January 2013 to date some 819,749 Cubans living in the island traveled abroad.

Statistics reflect the guarantees that Cuba’s migratory policy has provided for five years, under the principle that people have the right to travel, emigrate and the possibility of returning to the country.

The figures point towards a sustained increase in Cubans´ travel; in the same way that foreign residents are visiting the island in significant proportions.
