Leaders signed a memo on the situation in Syria.

SOCHI, Russia.- Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, held a meeting in the Russian city of Sochi, where they discussed issues concerning bilateral relations and the current situation in Syria.

Putin said Erdogan gave detailed explanations of the objectives of Source of Peace Operation in northern Syria, while adding that Russia understands Ankara’s desire to defend national security and fight terrorism.

The Russian President announced that during the talks, the parties reached momentous solutions to the situation on the Turkish-Syrian border, and urged the international community to help Syrians returning to their country.

Following the meeting, the leaders signed a memorandum on the situation in Syria, which includes a number of measures, and agreed to create a joint mechanism to monitor the implementation of the document.
