MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay.- The candidate of the National Party, Luis Lacalle Pou, will be the President of Uruguay for the five years, after the figures presented on the Electoral Court website confirmed his  triumph in the second round last Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Broad Front candidate, Daniel Martinez, acknowledged the result: The evolution of the count of the observed votes does not change the trend. So we greet the president-elect, with whom I will meet tomorrow.

With this news, Uruguay takes a right turn, after 15 years of Broad Front Progressism: Tabare Vazquez ruled from 2005 to 2010, Jose Pepe Mujica until 2015 and then there was a third period also of Vazquez.

The new president-elect, the son of former President Luis Alberto Lacalle who ruled Uruguay from 1990 to 1995, will take over in March 2020.
