UN speaks out against global hunger

ROME, Italy.- The Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, Qu Dongyu, alerted at the World Food Day ceremony about hunger and the different forms of malnutrition suffered by millions of people.

The official highlighted that more than 800 million people are hungry and more than 2 billion overweight and obese, and urged action to make healthy diets available to all.

The Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations also remarked the importance of introducing new food models and ensuring the proper implementation of sustainable diets from an economic and environmental point of view.

The official further announced that a global summit will take place in 2021 to address the need to expand and diversify agricultural production through the implementation of policies for food accessibility.
