Brazilians demand improvements in education system.

BRAZILIA, Brazil. – Brazilian students and workers will manifest from tomorrow in defense of national sovereignty, against the privatization of state assets and cuts in expenditures for teaching, convened by their trade union organizations.

The central event of the protest is convened for Thursday in the free space of the Museum of Art, on Paulista Avenue in Sao Paulo, and will be the third major national strike in defense of public, free and secular education.

For their part, Brazil’s six largest trade union confederations ask the Senate to suspend the vote scheduled for Tuesday of the unpopular Constitutional Amendment Proposal that will change the national pension regime.

The demand insists on the perverse and unfair nature of the Government’s proposed Social Security reform and its terrible consequences for the country and its workers.
