Beirut, Lebanon.- Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab met with the heads of diplomatic missions from Latin American and Caribbean countries, with whom he reviewed the potentialities for trade, Prensa Latina learned from diplomatic sources.

Diab listened to Cuban Ambassador Alexander Pellicer, who explained the possibility of establishing mechanisms of mutually beneficial cooperation in biotechnology and health care.

A Cuban-made drug, Interferon alfa 2B (IFRrec), is being used in China to treat COVID-19 patients, as the disease was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO).

The incidence of that deadly disease was one of the issues discussed by the head of the Lebanese Government with his guests from Cuba, Venezuela, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Colombia and Chile.

Diab confirmed his interest in touring Latin America and the Caribbean to learn first-hand about business and investment opportunities.
