HAVANA, Cuba.- The First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, Army General Raul Castro Ruz, is among the six foreign personalities whom China’s President Xi Jinping will decorate next Sunday in the context of the 70th anniversary of the country’s birth as a republic.
The ceremony will take place at the Grand People’s Palace in Beijing, where Xi Jinping will present the Republic’s and Friendship Medals, plus other national honorary titles.
The delivery of this important distinction to the Army General confirms the excellent state of relations between China and Cuba.
Raul will receive the Medal of Friendship, China’s highest honor bestowed on friends from other nations for their great contributions in support of China’s socialist modernization, for promoting exchanges and cooperation with other countries, and to safeguard world peace.
