Managua, Nicaragua.- Nicaraguan doctor María Esther Betanco stressed on Wednesday the importance of Cuban medical cooperation given the quality and professionalism of the island’s doctors.

A specialist in Comprehensive General Medicine, Dr. Betanco pointed out that collaboration in this field is of ‘inestimable importance’ for all countries where Cuban health personnel have worked, including this Central American nation.

She stressed the ‘solidarity, love and brotherhood that have become a pillar to save lives, treat the most complex diseases, and transmit ethical and moral principles, as well as professionals.’

A graduate of the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM), the Nicaraguan physician pointed out that the island’s doctors provide their services voluntarily, far from their families, and for as long as necessary.

She added that they face complex situations in the sites where they work, often in disaster or epidemic conditions.
