Havana, Cuba.- Nearly 160 Cuban and foreign artists will gather at the Potaje Urbano Hip Hop Festival, to be held August 13-18, organizers announced Saturday.

The event, hosted by the Hermanos Saiz Association and the Negros Zulus de La AKDmia group, in Matanzas, will be attended by representatives of different manifestations of hip hop culture such as graffiti, djing, breakdance and rap.

The event will see the National Battle of Masters Final, which Cuba is hosting for the first time, and marks the last step prior to the International Final in November in Peru.

In its 8th edition, Potaje Urbano will welcome ambassadors of the Cuban hip hop scene such as El Individuo, Karnal, Ciudadano, Company Yo, Cuentas Claras and Malcolm Beybe, while the international scene will be represented by French Dj Keshkooy, Mc Rotka and Mexican, Nam.

There will also be performances by dance projects Rompiendo el Paso and B Boy es Vida, while public interventions will be carried out by graffiti artists Undergraff and Adier Martell.

DJs Lino, Hanzel, and C4 will also perform at the concerts, and there will be a place in the programme for different spoken poetry artists, including Elier El brujo and Luz de Cuba.

The festival is committed to young artists who have joined the country’s hip hop scene thanks to its rebirth on the island, and will increase the bonds between the different manifestations of this culture to achieve an interconnection between music, dance, visual arts and poetry.
